Clarence Fowler whose name is appended to the document is Mrs Gill’s Trainer. The document reads, We, the undersigned, saw all the swim from Cap Gris Nez to Shakespeare Cliff, starting from Cap Gris Nez at 9 11 am October 13th and landing at Shakespeare Cliff at 12 20 am October 14th 1927, and are satisfied the swim was accomplished without any aid whatever.

Staged swim for Movietone cinema On Board; H. B. Hayward official time keeper. Plus two sea scouts. Messrs Holland and Pearce. This was an attempt for the Dover Gold Cup. A display was put on for Movie tone Cinema before the swim was abandoned. Sea very rough, no chance of success - air temperature very cold and sea temperature dropping. She gave up due to the cold. On Board; Mrs A. Sharp She was unconscious for two hours after the swim. She had no independent witnesses on board. Because of the doubts raised over Doctor Dorothy Logan’s Swim, she made a vindication swim on Oct 21st, although this first swim was later recognised by the CSA.

The Vindication Swim. Observed by Daily Mail aeroplane She called it a vindication swim, due to the doubt cast by Dr. Logan's swim. Swam wearing a Rolex Gold watch, which was later sold for £17 000. On board; Mrs Sharp. (Not in Across the Straights, probably because not reported in Dover Express until October 21, well after end of season)

Grease; Beeswax, Porpoise oil, Resin. Wore no mask. Stroke; Side stroke. Jack refused to leave the water, so the crew leaned out of the boat with a long pole with a hook on the end put it around his neck and pulled him to the boat.

The Pilot Mr Courtes and the crew claimed that they put a rope around her to support during feeds. The Lighthouse Keeper at Cap Gris Nez saw no swimmers. The proprietors of the Cap Gris Nez Hotel saw no swimmers. Mrs Hamilton refused to discuss the swim. No Log book or Chart exists. The swim was never recognised.
