They hoped to reach Dover together. Lincoln Nebraska State Journal September 15, 1932. THIRST BALKS GIRLS' CHANNEL ATTEMPTS. Cape Gris Nez, France. Sept. 15. A German girl. Loe Koch, and a Dutch Miss F. Brouwer, both abandoned attempts to swim the English Channel today after they had covered about ten miles. Both said they were unable to continue because of thirst.
