Alf Whiting with a cup and a model of a lifeboat. Photograph shows brother-in-law of Pop Burvill, who was also an official of the swimming association and sometimes also a pilot.

Pop (Jack / John) Burvill (Burwill) acted as a pilot on many Channel swimming escort and support boats. He married Alf’s sister Rose Whiting. A Black and White Photograph.
