He made three unsuccessful attempts; 23rd July 1961, France to England, time 12hrs 7mins; 9th July 1966, England to France, 15hrs 40mins (Two way attempt);  11th Sept 1967, England to France, in 10hrs  21mins.

Nitindra Roy claimed to have swam the Channel from England to France on the 11th & 12th of September 1967 in a new record time of 10hrs 21mins. The Channel Swimming Association refused to recognise the swim because of doubt to its authenticity. A rival association, The English Channel Swimming Association agreed to recognise the swim and gave a certificate for the swim.

Nitindra died 23 June 1978 age 39. Training for a two way swim, he collapsed after a two hour training swim.
