Denize swam the Channel in September 1966 from Wissant to Dungeness, in a time of 29 hours 50 mins and in so doing became the youngest British Female, at 16 years, to make the crossing. She swam breaststroke and swam without goggles.

In the same year she became the first person to swim the 18 miles from Jersey to France. In 1969 she became the first person to swim the 41 miles around the Island of Jersey.
