Jack Burvill and Mr Hewlett , Fishing Awards.

Photograph of Pop Burwill (Also known as Jack Burwill but christened John) and an unknown friend. He piloted many ecort and support boats for Channel Swimmers. In 1927 Pop Burwell was assistant Pilot on Mercedes Gletze successful France-England, 15hrs.15mins. He piloted the unsuccessful France-England  attempt of Harry Luscombe in 1927. Luscombe had a “partly disabled leg”he swam trudgeon. and he swam for 8hrs. 45mins. Pop Burwell piloted in the Daily Mail International Races in 1950 and 1952. A Black and White photograph.
