Linda McGill of Australia swam the Channel three times, all France-to England. The first swim was in 1965 and her time was 11hrs 12mins. In 1967 she swam again from France to England, in 13hrs 02mins and then in the same year 9hrs 59 mins for her third swim. This was the fastest crossing by a woman.

She was an Olympian and the first Australian to swim the channel.
