Norman Trusty swam the Channel first from France to England in 1967 and twice from England to France in 1971, five weeks apart.

He also completed 9 Channel relays; 1971 Hetzels Texas Volunteers one way England to France; 1974 Hetzels Texas Volunteers Two Way completing records for Fastest England – France swim 8hrs 51m, Fastest France – England swim 8hrs 59m and fastest 2 way Channel Swim;1977 Channel Swimming Association Committee Golden Jubilee Team, one way.

Other Swimming Events included:1954 British Long Distance Swimming Association Torbay Champion; 1966 British Long Distance Swimming Association International Windermere Championship (10 1/4 Miles); 1974 British Long Distance Swimming Association International Windermere Championship (26km).
