Presentation to the Mayor John F. Moncrieff 1950. These events finally finished, mainly for two reasons – firstly that because of inclement weather races could not always take place on the arranged date, and Billy Butlin as a showman and entrepreneur, was finding it difficult to accept this situation. A lady Dr. Barbara Moore was an excentric middle aged long distance walker who became the focus of the public’s attention because of her abrasive nature. From the Sam Rockett Collection
