Rosemary George on a Channel swim

She swam in the Billy Butlin swims and also made solo attempts. Once failed a swim 800yds from the beach – an hour earlier was 400yds from the beach.

She swam in the last three Butlins swims in 1957, 1958, 1959 and was unsuccessful on all three occasions. She was successful in 1961, completing an England to France swim in 21 hours 35 minutes.  She was successful France England 1967, time 17hrs 50mins.
