Sam Rockett & Raphael Morand 1951.

Sam Rockett swam in the 1950 Daily Mail race and was the fourth man  to finish. He was Supervisor for the 1951 Daily Mail Race, an International race held in the “Festival of Britain year” and was also supervisor for the Billy Butlin races from 1953 to 1959, and the Sir Billy Butlin long distance walk from John O Groats to Lands End.

He played County Water Polo for a number of Counties. He was author of the book “its Cold in the Channel”

Raphael Morand swam in The 1951 Daily Mail race and he finished 10th overall in a time of 13hrs and 45mins. He was the 7th Male.

He was the 1937-42 Champion of Atlantic for all distances. 1943-46 Champion of Anjou 400 and 1500 meters, and long distance winner of Nantes 4 times, St Nazaire 3 times, Angers twice, Viort once.

Winner of race from Island of Les Evens, 5 Kms off Atlantic Coast, to La Baule. 6th position in the 1947 International Swimming Race across Lake Leman.
