Vaclav Spacek fake Channel Swim; Czechoslovak Legation letter

Letter from Czechoslovak Legation to Dover Harbour Board re Vaclav Spacek’s claim to have swum the Channel. This was later found to be a complete fabrication from Spacek and he was prosecuted on the charge of attempting to mislead a public authority. The account of his swim includes the “fact” that “once I struck a log injuring my stomach”.
