Captain Webb’s Autograph. 1875. Autograph of Captain Webb, on his return from swimming the English Channel.

After completing his Channel swim, Matthew Webb came back to Dover and was entertained at the Yacht Club. Mr Hughes, the father of  Dr. Hughes, Vicar of St. Marys, asked him for his autograph. This is it on the Yacht club paper.
