Miss Marvel Abrahamsen of Oslo, Norway, swam from Drøbak to Oslo in 13½ hours in 1937

She arrived in Dover, aged 21, on 24/8/1937 and spent 4 weeks in Dover but conditions prevented any serious attempt – she left for home in the 3rd week of September

Her closest attempt was on September 4th when she left Dover in Brockman’s motor boat for Cap Gris Nez to start at 10.15pm, got in the water, but did not start due to bad weather. Ted Temme and Kasper Mehus of Oslo were her trainers. Pilot Harry Pearson of Walmer. Her swimming diet was bananas and hot soup only
