Born 27 July 1904, Pirbright, Surrey, to Albert James Daborn and Ruth Heather. 1911 census family living at Highfields, Ashwood Road, Woking – his father is described as a salesman, a singer sewing machine worker, and caretaker of Highlands. In 1921 he was the athletics champion of Woking Grammar school

At the time of his swim he is listed as A. H. Dayborn of Mayford, Woking, swimming teacher.

In 1939 he is residing at 6 Lucas Green Road , Bagshot, Surrey, and is described as in the Motor Trader & a Driving Instructor, single. Living with him are his parents

He died in 1991 at Boundstone, Farnham, Surrey
