Hasselder, Ellen

Ellen was born in 1962 and was from Lostock near Bolton, Lancashire, and attended Bolton School. She made a failed attempt in 1978 before succeeding on 3rd July 1979 in 15 hours, 40 minutes, aged 17. Her £1000 costs for the second attempt were raised by an appeal launched by Bolton businessman Donald Silvester. She married Ian Chamberlain in 1988.

A girl of this name was a pupil at St. Richard’s with St Andrew’s JMI School, Ham, Richmond, Surrey, and sang in my school choir, somewhere between 1968 and 1970, when I was Headmaster there.
