Pouilley, Georges

Georges Pouilley (23 July 1893 – 12 January 1958) was a French freestyle swimmer. He was winner of the Christmas Cup International Race in Paris in the Seine on December 25 in 1919, 1920 and  1921 and 100m swimming champion at the Paris championship of 1921.

He organised a number of other Channel attempts, including in 1925 and 1928 when bad weather stopped him from starting whilst on the beach

He competed at the 1920 Summer Olympics at Antwerp in the 100m and 4×200m relay, but failed to reach the finals, coming 4th in his heats. He later became an aviator.
