Snel, Martha

Snel gets no mention in English language press but is listed in Dutch sources as making several attempts to swim the Channel and she successfully swam Noordwijk to Scheveningen in May 1931 as preparation for the Channel. It seems likely that she never started any of her attempts

The Hague swimmer Martha Snel, who was to attempt to swim the Channel on Tuesday morning, has not started. The weather conditions were such that her trainer Mr. Polder decided in consultation with the Dutch consul Ch. Ravisse and with Rancan, the controller of the magazine “Het Leven”, to give up for this year and postpone an attempt until September 1932
